GINGER LEMONS

Artist Ginger Lemons works in a variety of mediums including photography, pastel, acrylic, colored pencil and clay.

Lemons describes her artwork as “lifescapes”.  Her art, in whatever medium she uses to create it, depicts stories she's observed from the world around her. To the delight of the viewer, these stories often have a humorous twist and invariably hold hidden surprises.

No matter how quirky and fun her subject is, however, skillfully rendered draftsmanship and unfailing attention to design elements anchor this contemporary Texas artist's paintings. Ginger Lemons is especially adept at using bold color to create dramatic tension in her southwest art.

Ginger Lemons arrived in Texas when she was six months old, and has claimed it as her home ever since. Ginger grew up in Richardson, Texas, where her passion for the outdoors and her art talent developed together.

Following a 30 year career in education, Ginger Lemons embraced the opportunity to retire and move from the Metroplex. A high school backpacking trip to Big Bend plus summer visits to the Texas borderlands over the past two decades made the move to a mountaintop outside Alpine a “no brainer”. Now, the artist's appreciation of daily life amid the fabulous nature, history and people of Far West Texas is a recurring theme in her paintings. Ginger Lemons painted "lifescapes" tell the continuing story of modern day life in Big Bend country at Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum.

Notice our signs along the road to the gallery? Ginger Lemons made them all-- including the big metal sign on Hwy 166 at the entrance to the Crows Nest Ranch road. Talented lady, indeed.
