I was in Snyder, Texas in 2016 to judge the inaugural “Plein Air on the Square”. I arrived early and decided to join the small group of participants. I decided to paint in the alley behind the buildings on the south side of the square. The shapes and shadows of the old Ritz theater and Stephens Office Supply and Printing made for a compelling composition.
Mr. Stephens never quite understood why I wasn’t interested in painting the front of his store.
